• Periodic physical examinations, initially every two months during the first year.
• Routine x-rays and CT scans of the chest at intervals to detect recurrences.
• Routine blood chemistry tests are done every four to six months.
• Infections with unusual bacteria or fungi may occur, even if steroid hormones (prednisone) were not given.
  (These drugs impair the immune response.)
